ARBORETUM RESIDENTS’ ASSOCIATION
Minutes of the
committee meeting held on Tuesday 18 October 2011 in the Baptist
Church Hall, Sansome Walk.
Present: Ruth Davies (Treasurer), Paul

2 The Minutes of the previous meeting of
06 September were approved as a correct record (Proposed

3 Matters
Arising:
3.1 Scrutiny Committee
submission.
Joy thanked the committee for
our submission on Parking and traffic orders which is now being
followed up by council officers. Mary will persue these issues
with the County Council when they are referred by the City
3.2 Police support
Brendan reported that he
had a satisfactory meeting with the police to review the problem
of pavement parking in the Arboretum.
4 Treasurer’s Report: RD
reported that the balance currently stands at £1332.05
5 Westbury
St. Garden:
Committee members and friends
have tidied the garden and requested we approach the Parks
Department to see if we can arrange a bulb planting event.

6 Carol
Singing:
A Carol Singing event was
agreed to be held in the Wesbury Street Garden on Saturday 10th
December at 5-30 pm. Mince pies and mulled wine (non alcholic)
to be organised. Submission to the parks department for
apporoval and insurance cover. action PB.
7 Any other
Business:
7.1 Seats along the canal :
The City and the Waterways
Board have been discussing provision of seating along the canal
towpath. Submissions from interested parties are invited. It was
agreed we should suggest the provision of 4 benches between the
railway and Landsdowne Road. PB to Write.
7.2 Swimming Pool Site: We
need to to be making submissions to the City about housing
density, and parking provision in plans for redevelopment of
this site before detailed planning creates a fait accompli.

8 Date of next meeting: The next
committee meeting was fixed for Tuesday 06 December 2011
at 7.30 p.m. in the Baptist Church Hall, Sansome Walk.
Residents are welcome to attend these meetings.
Dates for further meetings
were fixed as 24 Jan and 08 March 2012.
